What We’ve Observed After Years of Executing Modular Kitchens

The Quotation Stage Always Feels Simple

At the start, most quotations look straightforward. A figure is shared—often based on a per square foot rate—and everything seems easy to understand.

But as we’ve seen over the years, the true value of a quotation isn’t in the number—it’s in the clarity.

Once Work Begins, So Do New Decisions

As the project progresses, new ideas often emerge:

  • Can we include additional storage here?

  • Can that corner be used better?

  • Is this the finish we expected?

  • What about the inner fittings?

These questions are natural. But whether they cause disruption or are already accounted for depends on how complete the quotation was in the first place.

What Many Quotations Miss

From our experience reviewing many industry quotations, here are a few common gaps:

  • A flat sq. ft. rate is shared — with no scope of work or breakdown.

  • Hardware details (hinges, channels) are not mentioned.

  • Accessories and storage items (like cutlery trays, bottle pull-outs) are often not included.

  • Lofts, skirting, or tall units are missing unless specifically asked.

  • Installation, fittings, and ducting are often added later.

  • There's no reference to execution support or how the work will be monitored.

These are important components — and their absence often leads to mid-way revisions.

So, What Does a Clear Quotation Look Like?

Let’s take an actual example from a recent project we handled. Here’s a quick look at what the client received — long before work began.

🧾 Quotation Reference: Kitchen –

This detailed quotation included more than 35+ line items. Here's what was covered:

Carcass Units (Cabinets)

Each cabinet size was listed clearly — such as W30_H30_D24 — so the client knew exactly how many units were being built and where.

Storage Accessories

Essential elements like:

  • Cutlery tray

  • Thali inlet

  • Grain trolley

  • Cup & saucer tray…were all included — not marked optional.

Shutters with Finish Details

All shutters were specified with sizes and surface finish (e.g. Acrylic – Zurich), so there were no surprises later.

Hardware & Handles

Soft-close hinges, tandem channels, profile handles — clearly listed with brand and quantity.

Site-Level Components

Items like:

  • Duct cover for chimney

  • Skirting

  • Installation charges…were already included — not pushed to the final stage.

Tax, Discount & Final Amount

GST, installation charges, and applicable discounts were transparently shown. No vague totals, no round estimates.

Why This Level of Clarity Matters

When everything is mentioned up front — in writing — it builds trust. It gives the homeowner confidence that:

  • They’re not missing anything

  • They won’t be revisiting the cost mid-way

  • The team is planning thoroughly, not reactively

Already Received Your Quotation from Us?

If you’ve received a quotation from Dee Modular, we encourage you to review it carefully. Not just to see the price — but to understand the depth of planning behind it.

And if you’ve received quotations from elsewhere too, consider checking:

  • Are items broken down or just a square foot rate?

  • Are internal storage components and finishes mentioned?

  • Is site execution part of the plan, or an afterthought?

  • Are there any vague terms or "as per requirement" mentions?

We're here to help you interpret any quote — not to compare, but to clarify.

A Thought Before You Decide

A kitchen is more than cabinets. It’s a process of thinking ahead — anticipating every step and reducing stress at each stage.

Sometimes what feels simple in the beginning leads to questions later. And sometimes, when everything is clear from day one, the entire journey feels lighter.

We focus on the second one.
